Music Mixer Software – Who Else Feels My Pain?
The music mixer software I use most often these days is a program called Pro Tools.
I have to be honest and say that when I first started making music in my home studio I cheated a little…
At the time I had a friend who’d been researching all the best and cheapest gear for about six months.
And when he finally went out and made his purchase I just bought the same stuff he did.
So I ended up with a Mac Book and a copy of Pro Tools, but with no iIdea at all how to use it?
Then disaster…
I had a massive problem with my audio interface and it had to go back to the shop for a month. I could not even use my new gear!
So I decided to spend the time reading the manual so that when I got my stuff back I could get right on with recording.
The Pro Tools manual is about 1000 pages long and you have to read it on the computer.
It was hell, and once I had finished the book I think I understood about 1% of it!
My training really started when I got my audio interface back and started to mess around with the program.
It was a lot of fun but I did not really know what I was doing at all. Pro Tools is really top end music mixer software and I was a total newbie!
Those two things did not mix very well!
I was deleting whole songs, blowing up speakers and spending hours just trying to get my mic working.
But after about six months I started to get the hang of things and was making some nice beats and a few good tunes.
I’m now at the stage where my music is played on the radio without having to go to a recording studio, which feels great.
My favorite features are below:

- Built-in audio effects
- Audio wave editing
- Time stretch
Too many to mention really…
Final thoughts.
If you’re looking for the ultimate Music Mixing Software Pro Tools is the best, but just remember you will have to spend months getting to know your way around.
If you want something much easier try Garageband first because it comes free with your new Mac.
But there is really nothing better than Pro Tools on the market right now.
